Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that the second T20I between India and West Indies at Warner Park has been pushed to start at 12:30 pm (10 pm India) due to a delay in the arrival of team luggage.

The match was originally slated to begin at 8 pm IST on Monday. It will now begin two hours late, as confirmed by the board.

“Due to circumstances beyond CWI’s control, there have been significant delays in crucial team luggage arriving into St Kitts from Trinidad.”

“As a result, today’s match 2nd Goldmedal T20 Cup match is due to start at 12:30 pm (11:30am Jamaica/10pm India). CWI regrets any inconvenience caused to our valued fans, sponsors, broadcast partners and all other stakeholders,” a statement from CWI read.

West Indies limited-overs captain Nicholas Pooran said the performance of the team in the first T20I against India was the worst.

Pooran and his men lost the game by 68 runs at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. India posted 190/6 as skipper Rohit Sharma top-scored with 64 in 44 balls and senior player Dinesh Karthik blazed 41 runs in 19 deliveries.

“For me, it’s just about batsmen getting starts. When we do get a start, it’s just for us to carry on – find a way to carry on and make it count. This is only our third T20 together as a team, and in the last 15 T20s, I think this is the worst performance,” Pooran said ahead of the second T20I match on Monday.

Speaking about the team’s death bowling concerns, Pooran said ahead of the second T20I in St.Kitts:

“That’s something we’ve been trying to correct for the longest while, and teams keep hurting us at the back end. As a group, we understand that, and we’re trying our best to come up with different ways to be better at the death.”

The death bowling responsibilities in the series opener were handed to the duo of Obed McCoy and Jason Holder. Despite beginning on a promising note, they leaked 36 runs in the last two overs to change the complexion of the match.
