‘it’s up to the selectors” – Cornwall says his aim is to stay fit and let his performance do the talking

One of the most talked about players in recent times is the all-rounder Rahim Cornwall. He has been out of the regional team these days due to his fitness problem and he has talked about it from time to time.

Cornwall has got a chance to represent the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the 2023 West Indies Championship. He joined the Good Morning Jojo sports chat and said that he always tries to stay fit.

“I don’t think that timeline is up to me. I always try to be as fit as possible and put in the performances, so it’s up to the selectors and whatever the board thinks, so I don’t think the timeline is really up to me. I am putting in my part and the performances are there, so I just leave it up to them.” he said.

Having scored 34 wickets in 09 Test matches, Cornwall has recently been removed from the West Indies Test team in several matches. The authorities said that his physical fitness was not up to par.

However, Cornwall says that he feels fitter because of his continued fitness.

“Well, there is always room for improvement, but at the moment, I am just putting in the work. I still feel much better than how I did before and a little bit fitter so I just have to keep working.” he added

“The goal is always to stay fit, once I am fit and performing, it is up to the selectors if they want me or not, but for me, I am still putting in the work and whatever opportunity I get I will grab it with both hands.” he concluded
