“Most important thing to know what I can do..”- Rahkeem Cornwall says People don’t think he fit enough to play test cricket

The West Indies squad for the upcoming tour of Australia was named yesterday and it was rumored that Antigun player Rahkeem Cornwall would be included in it, but it did not happen. In an exclusive interview with Sports Gazette, West Indian Rahkeem Cornwall mentioned that people think he cannot play Tests.

In that interview, he reminisced about his childhood in the countryside and what his mother had told him.

“My mother always preached to me never to get ahead of myself, never to think you are better than someone else, and respect everyone”.

He stated that Cornwall always knew that he would succeed in cricket due to his belief in his processes from a young age.

“Playing for the West Indies is the biggest achievement that you can ever get in Cricket in the Caribbean, and I knew, once I’d done those things, there was no doubt I’d get a West Indies call-up.”

The big man has taken 34 wickets in 9 Test matches with an economy rate of 2.89. He has also shown his batting ability by scoring 238 runs with two half-centuries.

He also plays with franchises around the world but he prefers the red ball. Jimbo said that although there are many franchises around the world, Test cricket is the pinnacle of young players in the Caribbean.

“There are a lot of franchise and T20 cricket tournaments around the world, but I don’t think I could show you a young player in the Caribbean who doesn’t think test cricket is still the pinnacle.”

“No disrespect member there is Cricket that everyone would play because they think it is a fast again but tested here.”

Cornwall’s size and fitness have been a problem for West Indies. However, he was of the opinion that there is nothing better than talent.

“People think I’m not fit enough to play test cricket, but nothing beats performance. The most important thing to know what I can do and that the team I’m playing for support me.”
