“She is in good spirits and thankful for all the well wishes.” – CWI announces the latest situation of Shamilia who fell suddenly during the match.

Shamilia Connell was hospitalized after suffering a fall during last Friday’s match against Bangladesh.

 

She was fielding at mid-wicket when she collapsed in the 47th over. She was rushed to hospital in an ambulance with the help of doctors and teammates. Her condition could not be ascertained.

 

At the climax of the match, she fell and the Bangladesh final pair were then chasing 13 off 19 balls. However, the match resumed after the incident and Stephanie took the final wicket to give the West Indies victory.

During the post-match ceremony, Taylor said:

“It was sad to see her go down. But we need to look at the bright side – it was time for us to regroup, we came back and changed the momentum.”

In this match, Connell bowled 03 overs, failed to take wickets and conceded 4 runs. However, the CWI said in a statement

“She is in good spirits and thankful for all the well wishes.”

She was also released from the hospital by doctors after receiving clear results from her tests, the statement said.

CWI further stated that she is currently under the supervision of the CWI medical team.

“She was discharged the same evening. She is now resting comfortably, under the care and supervision of the CWI Medical Team. She is in good spirits and thankful for all the well wishes.”

However, it is yet to be decided whether she will be eligible for next Monday’s match against Pakistan.
