KJORN Otley scored a century for Central Sports before spinner Sunil Narine took control of the match to lead a fightback from the Queen’s Park Cricket Club first XI on day one of the TT Cricket Board’s National League match at Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair on Friday.
Otley and opener Keagan Simmons were in complete control of the fourth-over match at 155/1 for Central Sports. Simmons fell for 54 off 117 balls to break the 151-run stand for the second wicket. After Imran Khan was dismissed for 18, Central Sports were in a comfortable position as they progressed to 196/3.
Narine then collapsed and Central Sports were reduced to 206/9 for 6 for ten runs. Narine took 4 wickets in the middle ground, while fellow spinner John Russ Jagesar took the other two wickets.
Otley and veteran Rayad Emrit then put on a 40-run stand for the last wicket to frustrate Queen’s Park. Otley was the last to bat when he was bowled by Narine for 129, leaving Central Sports 246 all out. Left-handed batsman Otley faced 186 balls and his innings included 7 fours and 5 sixes.
Narine finished with 6/59 in 26 overs while Jaggesar took 2/34 in 8 overs. Also Right-arm mystery bowler Sunil Narine smashed 7 wickets for 39 runs in the second innings as Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) secured an 8-wicket win over Central.
Keagan Simmons resumed with 35 to take Central Sports to 73 for 1, but he added just ten more runs as the home side lost the next nine wickets for just 44 as Central Sports were bowled out for 117.
In the second innings, Queen’s Park were set a target of 107 runs. The Queen’s Park team passed the target by losing only 2 wickets, winning by 8 wickets. Narine finished the match with 13 wickets for 98 runs.
After bowling QPCC 2 on Saturday evening, Clark Road started their chase yesterday morning and completed the win in 42.4. Over, 122 for 2.
Yannick Ottley scored a patient 56 off 128 balls as Clarke Road made sure to push past the mark, accepting that they had all day to safely score 121 without getting into unnecessary trouble. Nicholas Sudesinghe assisted Otley with an unbeaten 43.
