The 6ixty Teams Announce Squads: Chris Gayle To Play For St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The inaugural edition of Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) newest T10 League ‘6ixty’ is set to be played from August 24. A total of six franchises will battle it out for the championship trophy this season.

The 6ixty announced their squads for the T10 tournament, which is launched by the Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

In ‘The 6ixty’ a total of six men’s teams – St. Lucia Kings, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, Jamaica Tallawahs, and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots – will be participating. Also, three women’s teams –Trinbago, Barbados and Guyana – will take part in the inaugural edition of the T10 tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 24 to 28 in St. Kitts and Nevis, just before the CPL season. in the first Men’s game, Guyana Amazon Warriors will lock horns with St. Lucia Kings on August 25.

Several notable international cricket stars, including Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Tim Siefert and Paul Stirling, will be plying their trade for their respective franchises.

Swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle is the brand ambassador for the tournament and will also be seen in action for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Also, the trophy has been named ‘Universe Boss Trophy’, which is named after the legendary West Indies batter Chris Gayle.

The rules of the tournament are very different as the batting teams will only have six wickets rather than 10 wickets. Also, the mandatory powerplay will be of two overs and the batting team can also unlock a floating third-over powerplay by smashing two sixes in the initial two overs.

The 30 balls will be thrown from one end, while the remaining 30 balls will be thrown from the other end. Also, a fielder will be removed for the last six balls if the bowling team fail to complete 10 overs in 45 minutes. Meanwhile, fans can also vote for a mystery-free hit, on which the batsman will not be out.
