“The seniors in the West Indies side are not doing anything” – Aakash Chopra

The West Indies have already lost the ODI series 2-0 after India defeating West Indies in the second ODI by 44 runs.

West Indies’ poor batting was the main reason for the loss. The senior batsmen were not seen performing their duties properly throughout the tournament.

Windies were bowled out for 176 and 193 runs in the first and Second ODIs of the three-match series.

Indian commentator Aakash Chopra expressed disappointment at the performances of Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran and Darren Bravo. he has said on his YouTube channel that West indies’ senior batsmen are not doing their job well. He elaborated:

“The seniors in the West Indies side are not doing anything. Shai Hope – I am getting hopeless. Nicholas Pooran is not doing any job sampooran (complete). Darren Bravo – there is nothing bravo about him.”

He further commented on the three of them must stand up if the team is to go on to victory. Otherwise, he said, the West Indies could not give up any fight.

“These are the three seniors and all three of them are not scoring runs. If they don’t contribute, there are very few chances of the team going ahead. So it is a big problem.”

Hope contributed 27 runs in the second ODI but hit Yuzvendra Chahal straight down the long-on fielder’s throat. Pooran and Bravo failed to reach double digits and were both nicked off by Prasidh Krishna.
