Not a lot of cricketers have the patience and willpower to grind out on all five days of a Test match for a long period of time. Over the years, we have seen some of the greatest batsmen to grace Test Cricket.
They played Test Cricket in the same manner in which they played white-ball cricket. The fans witnessed a lot of sixes from their willow in the longest format as well.

#5 Virender Sehwag: 91 sixes
In 104 Tests, he has managed to score 8586 runs at an average of 49.3. Sehwag is the only Indian cricketer to have scored two triple centuries in Test Cricket. Besides, he has hit the fifth-most number of sixes in Test Cricket. He has 91 sixes to his name in Test Cricket.
#4 Jacques Kallis: 97 sixes
South Africa’s legendary cricketer, Jacques Kallis finds himself at the number four position on the list. Kallis is counted amongst the greatest all-rounders ever to grace the game. He was an important member of South Africa’s team across formats during his playing career.
He made significant contributions with both bat and ball. In 116 Tests, Kallis scored more than 13,000 runs at an average of 55.37. In his international Test cricket career, Kallis had 97 sixes to his name.
#3 Chris Gayle: 98 sixes
Chris Gayle too is another destructive hitter of the ball who finds himself on the list. Gayle carved out a successful cricket career in all formats of the game. He managed to play as many as 103 Test matches for his country and scored 7214 runs at an average of 42.2. Chris Gayle had a penchant for hitting sixes. In his Test Cricket career, he managed to hit 98 sixes- the third most number of sixes in Test Cricket.
#2 Adam Gilchrist: 100 sixes
An attacking left-handed batsman, Adam Gilchrist was known for his aggressive batting. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest wicket-keeping batsmen in the history of the game. His strike rate is among the highest in Test Cricket. Gilchrist was one of the most successful Australian cricketers in Test Cricket.
For those of you who don’t know, Adam Gilchrist was the first player to have hit 100 sixes in Test Cricket. Overall, he has the second most number of sixes in Test cricket with 100 sixes to his name in 96 Tests.
#1 Brendon McCullum: 107 sixes
Be it Test Cricket, ODI, or T20 cricket, Brendon McCullum’s approach towards his batting remained the same. He was one of the most destructive hitters of the ball. McCullum opened the batting for New Zealand and scored a plethora of runs across formats. 2014 was his best year with the bat in Test Cricket.
He became the first New Zealand cricketer to score 1000 runs in a calendar year. In the same year, he also became the first New Zealand cricketer to have scored a triple-century in Test Cricket. Brendon McCullum holds the record for hitting the most number of sixes in Test Cricket. He has 107 sixes to his name in the longest format of the game.
