BRETT D’Oliveira was in sparkling form as the Worcestershire Rapids ended their run of six defeats in a row in the Vitality Blast by beating high-flying Lancashire Lightning by 29 runs at New Road.
In Vitality Blast 2022, a match was played between Worcestershire and Lancashire. Worcestershire able to defeat lanchire by 29 runs.
After winning the toss, the Lancashire Lightning captain invited Worcestershire Rapids to bat first and they scored 178 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and gave the opponents a good target.
Opener Brett D’Oliveira scored 33 runs in 25 balls, captain Moeen Ali scored 31 runs in 17 balls and Kashif Ali scored 27 runs and New Zealand player Colin Munro scored 26 runs and made a valuable contribution to 178.
Playing at number eight, former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo scored an unbeaten 10 off five balls, including one six.
Luke Wells was Lancashire’s best bowler of the match with 2-26 from his four overs and shared one wicket each among the rest of the bowlers.
Lancashire’s opening pair were Devastating batsman Phil Salt and New England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler. Salt scored 44 off 27 balls and Buttler got off to a good start with 42 off 29 balls.
However, the middle-order and tail ender batsmen could not carry forward the good start they got to end the match with a win. Accordingly, all their wickets fell in 19.3 overs.
D’Oliveira capped his all-round performance with 4-20 from his four overs of leg spin, while Pat Brown and Moeen Ali picked up two wickets each.
Also, Bravo, the highest wicket-taker in T20, took his tally to 595 wickets by taking one wicket. He took that wicket for 26 runs in 3.3 overs.
