Dubai Capitals’ Rovman Powell wreaked havoc against MI Emirates in the 13th game of the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20). He came out to bat after his side had a good start with Robin Uthappa and Joe Root added 78 runs for the first wicket in 8.5 overs.
The West Indies player carried on with the good work done with the opening pair. Powell hit 10 sixes during his stay.
Meanwhile, one of his sixes featured the helicopter shot that used to be played by former India skipper MS Dhoni.
The incident in the last over of Dubai’s innings, bowled by Kieron Pollard. On the second ball of the over, the former West Indies skipper bowled an overpitched heading outside Powell’s leg stump. However, the latter managed to hit a helicopter shot and send the ball over the deep midwicket boundary.
Talking about the Jamaican, Powell’s innings, he scored 97 runs off 41 balls including four fours and 10 sixes. In the last over, the right-hander needed 21 runs to get to his another T20 hundred.
He hit three sixes in the over as shown in the video as well. However, on the last ball when Rovman needed three runs, he was caught by Will Smeed and with this, his dream of completing a hundred was diminished.

Meanwhile, the Caribbean player’s innings helped the Red Brigade reach 222/3 at the end of the first innings. In reply, the Emirates tried well but was restricted 206/5, losing the game by 16 runs.
After the game, Powell was adjudged the player of the match. He said “We knew the pitch was good, so tried to make good use of it. Just tried to pick up what the bowlers are trying to do, the pitch is a belter for the batters. Three defeats on The trot is not a good feeling. We were up against a top team today.”
