WATCH: Sanju Samson kicks off preparations for West Indies tour

The Indian team is all set to tour West Indies for a forthcoming ODI and T20I series this month. The IND vs WI ODI series will be played first followed by the T20I series.

The ODI series will observe 3 games while the T20I series will witness 5 encounters. India has announced a 16-member squad for the ODI series. Shikhar Dhawan is named as the skipper for the IND vs WI ODI series.

Sanju Samson has kicked off the preparations for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies. However he is not a part of the T20I squad Which on Thursday (14) named.

The wicketkeeper-batsman took to social media to share a video from the net session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Samson has been in and out of the national squad since his debut. He made his T20I debut in 2015 while his ODI debut came last year against Sri Lanka.

Samson was last seen in action during the two-match T20I series against Ireland last month.

He had a good hit in the second game of the series, scoring 77 runs.

The Men in Blue will lock horns with Nicholas Pooran and Co. in a three-match ODI series followed by five T20Is, starting July 22.

Samson will hope to fully utilize the opportunities as the management continues to audition for the ICC ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place at home next year.

The opening ODI to be played on July 22 at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad. The same venue will host the next two ODIs on July 24 and 27.

In the video posted, it is clearly seen that Samson is preparing for the West Indies pace attack and asked bowlers to bowl at maximum speed.

–  Samson was seen facing both left-arm and right-arm pacers, that were bowling over the wicket.

– The RR captain was seen defending the ball, while he also tried out to attack at times.
