USA’s Aaron Jones and Ali Khan recreated the famous Andre Russell interview, which he gave in Bangladesh where he wasn’t able to understand what the interviewer was saying.
Explosive batter Aaron Jones and skillful seamer Ali Khan recreated this meme template after USA’s Super 8s qualification was confirmed yesterday. The co-hosts were supposed to take on Ireland in their final Group A game and all they needed was just a point to go through to the next round.
However, due to the continuous rain and wet outfield, the match was abandoned without a ball bowled with USA receiving automatic qualification with 1 point. This particular outcome proved to be detrimental for Pakistan who were hoping for the Irish team to do them a favour by beating the United States.
But now the situation is clear, USA are heading to the West Indies for the Super 8s while Canada, Ireland, and Pakistan will leave for their homeland after their last Group matches.
Andre Russell reacts to Aaron Jones and Ali Khan’s post
West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell had just won the Bangladesh Premier League a couple of years ago and a local interviewer wanted Russell to say something. Not sure as to what should be asked, the interviewer with some broken English asked, “Final match you perform what happening?”.
Unaware and surprised, Andre Russell replied “What do you mean?”. That conversation and that video clip got so viral that other cricketers recreated it from time to time. It was also done by the Kolkata Knight Riders media team when they became 3-time IPL champions last month.
The meme template was used by Ali Khan, who acted as the interviewer, and Aaron Jones, who was presumed to be Andre Russell. This video was uploaded on ICC’s official Instagram handle with Russell not failing to make his presence felt. The all-rounder wrote, “lol what you mean” with a laughing emoji.
Aaron Jones claims the players have been manifesting Super 8s
Aaron Jones then spoke about his feeling to reach the Super 8s of the home T20 World Cup 2024. Jones admitted that players have been dreaming about such stuff and that he is very happy about the team being able to get over the line.
“We have been speaking about this sort of stuff over the last couple of years and it’s really, right now I’m just happy that the boys got over the line. Super 8 here we come,” Aaron Jones said.
Ali Khan claims the current USA players are the founders of American cricket
Ali Khan also spoke about his feeling after reaching the Super 8s. He said that he was very happy and proud of being one of the players who are going to be forever counted as the founding fathers of USA cricket.
“I feel amazing. I feel over the moon. I think we just created history and we will be known as the founding Fathers of Cricket for America and the job is not done yet,” Ali Khan said via ICC’s video.
