Excitement brews as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season approaches, with West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph gearing up for his debut with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The 24-year-old speedster commenced his training with the Lucknow-based franchise in preparation for the highly anticipated tournament.

In a short clip shared by LSG on social media, Joseph showcased his skills during the team’s training camp, capturing the attention of fans with his spirited performance. “Come for the delivery, stay for the smile,” LSG quipped in their post, highlighting Joseph’s infectious enthusiasm.

Joseph’s arrival at LSG comes on the heels of his remarkable performance against Australia, where he played a pivotal role in West Indies’ historic victory at the ‘Gabba fortress.’

Despite sustaining an injury from a fiery Mitchell Starc yorker while batting, Joseph showcased immense resilience to return with a remarkable bowling spell of 7/68, earning him the title of ‘Player of the Match’ in his debut series.

The accolades continued for Joseph as he was crowned ICC Men’s Player of the Month for January 2024, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the cricketing world.

Following his good performances, LSG secured Joseph’s services for the upcoming IPL season, announcing him as the replacement for English pacer Mark Wood.

The Caribbean speedster joined the franchise for a hefty sum of Rs 3 crores, adding depth and firepower to LSG’s bowling lineup.

With anticipation building for the IPL 2024 season, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are slated to kick off the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants will commence their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
