Former West Indies Opener Lendl Simmons to play for Gujarat Giants in Legends League Cricket

The second edition of Legends League Cricket will start soon. On September 17th.

Virender Sehwag (Gujarat Giants), Gautam Gambhir (India Capitals), Irfan Pathan (Manipal Tigers) and Harbhajan Singh (India Maharajas) were chosen as the captains. The four franchises will start to take on each other.

This time around, the entire event would be hosted in India. On September 2nd, a virtual draft was held to decide the squads for each franchise.

Former West Indies player Lendl Simmons has been named on a Gujarat Giants team to contest the Legend League Cricket.

Lendl Simmons, who announced their respective retirement from international cricket in July, will play under the captaincy of Virender Sehwag, the 2011 World Cup-winning team member of India.

Simmons only recently retired from International cricket. Hence, it can be considered that he still belongs to the highest level.

In a tournament comprising retired cricketers, this could be a big advantage.

Moreover, Simmons also offers a few overs with the ball, which further adds balance to the squad.

Legends League Cricket will feature these four teams who will be playing twice against each other during the 12-match league stage. There will be 4 rest days in between the matches.
